High tea and a low table at The K Club

Afternoon Tea in The K Club, Kildare did not disappoint. Tiers of pretty sugar dusted cakes and scones with bubbly processo. In contrast a full menu of fruity tea to satisfy even the biggest tea addict needs.

I chose a sweet rhubarb tea served in an ornate golden tea pot accompanied with silver soup and delph. We were celebrating my sisters birthday and the staff very thoughtfully designed her a special tier with gluten free options for her; she is coeliac.

The surrounding gardens provided ample opportunity for pictures, partially for my sister as she will be getting married here in 2018.

City break: Lisbon

I really enjoy city breaks they are short, sweet and easy to organise. Our latest break in Lisbon really was our best trip so far. Lisbon is a bustlely city, a mixture of old town history and infrastructure but with an air of young and alternative restaurants, clubs and coffee shops.

We visited in Septmber which was widely advised as the best time to visit. Less tourists in the area and the winter sun gives just enough heat but no risk of getting sun burnt while you sip your cocktails.

We discovered some really cool and unique rooftop bars while we visited. Our favourite being PARK, this trendy bar is well hidden, its located on the top of a very mainstream and boring mulitstory car-park. There was no signs for this place and unless you know the route you won't find it. Luckily I did my research before we arrived and found directions on an old trip advisor review. The drinks are super reasonable priced here and the comfy seats great views and house music set the scene for a relaxing portuguese evening.

PARK: Rooftop bar

Another bar that really impressed us was H10, this totally instrgrammable bar is a little quieter that PARK but offers some fabulous views of the city and is very relaxed. The drinks were a little more on the pricer side here 10euro for G&T. We travelled here by the city Metro, which I couldn't recommend more. The modes of transport in Lisbon are reliable and easily navigated. We purchased a ZAPPING card at the airport station on our first day and used that for our whole trip on buses, trams, trains and metros.

All in all Lisbon really was a great destination for a summer city break, we will definitely be back.
